The children's dentist is there to teach your children the right things to do.<\/span><\/p>

In order to maintain good oral hygiene and healthy teeth, it is important to know how to brush your teeth properly. It is not enough to brush your teeth several times. Otherwise, brushing too hard or too much can lead to problems.<\/span><\/p>

How to properly brush your child's teeth?<\/span><\/h2>

From 0 to 6 months<\/span><\/h3>
  • Lay your baby on your lap or on the changing table,<\/span><\/li>
  • Standing behind him, use a damp cloth or compress to clean the gums. Healthy teeth come from healthy gums,<\/span><\/li>
  • Do this after every feeding or every time you give your child a pacifier.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    From 6 months<\/span><\/h3>
    • Brossez les premi\u00e8res dents de votre b\u00e9b\u00e9 deux fois par jour avec de l’eau et une brosse \u00e0 dents souple.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      From 1 year old<\/span><\/h3>
      • Donnez \u00e0 votre enfant sa premi\u00e8re brosse \u00e0 dents pour qu’il commence \u00e0 s\u2019habituer \u00e0 ce nouvel objet du quotidien. Laissez-le se brosser les dents en vous imitant,<\/span><\/li>
      • Finish brushing your child's teeth yourself by standing in front of a mirror and behind your child while letting his head rest against you.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

        From 2 years old<\/span><\/h3>
        • It is recommended to brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

          From 4 or 5 years old<\/span><\/h3>
          • Gradually teach your child to rinse his or her mouth and spit out the toothpaste.<\/span><\/li>
          • Utilisez des moyens ludiques pour faire du brossage de dents de votre enfant un moment agr\u00e9able (jeux et chansons). Expliquez-lui que s’il ne se brosse pas correctement les dents avant de se coucher, de vilains petits monstres vont s’installer dans sa bouche.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

            ATTENTION : Une aide au brossage est n\u00e9cessaire jusqu’\u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de 8 ans minimum.<\/span><\/p>

            Always pay attention to the teeth at the back of the mouth, which are more difficult to access with a toothbrush and may therefore have more plaque than others.<\/span><\/p>

            What is the correct brushing technique?<\/span><\/h2>
            • Use an appropriate toothpaste prescribed by the dentist,<\/span><\/li>
            • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid irritating the gums,<\/span><\/li>
            • Brush the gum in a circular motion towards the tooth.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

              CAUTION: brushing your teeth from left to right is very hard on your gums.<\/span><\/p>

              • Start brushing on the upper right cheek side and make at least five circular motions on each tooth, then repeat the same motions on the tongue side. Finish by brushing the chewing surfaces with back-and-forth strokes in a straight line.<\/span><\/li>
              • N’appliquez pas trop de pression sur les gencives pour qu\u2019elles ne souffrent pas. Si la brosse \u00e0 dents est us\u00e9e avant deux mois (ses poils sont courb\u00e9s) cela signifie que le brossage est trop \u00e9nergique.<\/span><\/li>
              • Toothbrushes should be changed every two to three months.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

                What are good brushing habits?<\/span><\/h2>
                • You should brush your teeth 2 to 3 times a day for 3 minutes,<\/span><\/li>
